We love all the amazing food carts and trucks that have popped up this past year in Columbus! There are some really unique food concepts plus amazing eats! We are bringing two of our favorites to the bakery!

Rad Dog will be here for their 1st vending day of Spring on April 14 from 11 am to 2 pm. He will be serving up his famous vegan dogs and sandwiches including the amazing Luna burger served on a Brezel bun! Yum and yay local! This will also be a Rad Dog + Sticky Bun Challenge Day. If you are able to eat any Rad Dog sandwich and follow that up with a huge pattycake sticky bun we will take your picture for the Rad Dog + Sticky Bun Challenge Wall of Fame located inside pattycake. Lucky Ladle will be here on April 28 from 11 am to 2 pm. She uses mostly local ingredients to make her homemade soups and turnovers. If you haven’t had a chance to sample from this cart you are in for a real treat! RSVP on Facebook here!

Vegan Meetup with Isa Chandra Moskowitz!

Last Saturday Pattycake and Rad Dog provided food for the April Columbus Vegan Meetup! The event was held at the lovely Scioto Audubon Metro Park. If you haven’t had a chance to visit there we would highly recommend going. Scotty worked the Rad Dog cart and busted out lunches for all the guests. We were given a tour of the building and Isa Chandra Moskowitz (one of my idols) was there signing cookbooks and chatting with people! Jennie and I were lucky enough to meet her! Pattycake Adopts Rad Dog!

Pattycake Bakery adopts Rad Dog!

Two of Columbus’ favorite vegetarian businesses have joined forces to bring Columbus more deliciousness.

When Tawd Bell decided he wanted to sell Rad Dog, his all vegan hot dog business, Jennie Scheinbach of Pattycake Bakery was one of the first people he told. “I’ve always loved Rad Dog! – the hotdogs, the concept, the brand, and Tawd himself, and when Tawd told me he wanted to sell (his business), it seemed like a natural fit for Pattycake.  “Out of all the people in Columbus that I would ever think that would own Rad Dog!, besides myself, Pattycake is who I would want to own it,” says Tawd Bell.

Pattycake Bakery and Rad Dog! have been working together since Rad Dog!’s inception in July of 2008.  Pattycake was Rad Dog!’s first commissary; the relationship developed through the popular Rad Dog!/Sticky Challenge, where folks are challenged to eat an entire delicious Rad Dog! and one of Pattycake’s huge and amazing sticky buns.  Those who accomplish the feat get their picture taken and put on the wall of fame at Pattycake.

The merger is an exciting development for Pattycake and Rad Dog, with plans for continued event partnership, catering packages, and Rad Dog vending lunches at Pattycake in Clintonville.  Bell will continue to work the Rad Dog cart, with a couple of fresh new faces joining the team as well.

Independent’s Day 2010

The 3rd Annual Independent’s Day is this Saturday! It starts at noon and ends at midnight on the corner of pearl alley and gay street.

This free and open to the public event features 200 vendors, two main stages with more than 20 local bands, artists, dancers, street performers, and public art projects.

We will be set up next to Rad Dog near the other food carts! Stop by and say hello! We would love to see you:)

Because of the weather today the rad dog + sticky challenge has been postponed until next Sat. We are so sorry for any inconvenience that this will cause anyone. We hope that you will come next weekend instead.

This weekend at Pattycake!

This weekend our good friend Rad Dog will be setting up on Saturday from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm cooking up his amazing gourmet hot dogs! Stop by for lunch and dessert!

We will be stocked with the very popular ho ho cream filled cupcakes and the peanut heart’s jelly filled cupcakes! Our raw cheesecake with be topped with organic raspberries this week, yum! Right now we have toasted almond and pistachio rosewater cakes by the slice with more to come this evening!

The weekend is upon us again and we are going to be making some delicious treats for you including a brand new cake by the slice, The Mounds Cake!

Remember eating Mounds candy bars as a kid? This weekend we are introducing The Mounds Cake! A coconut cake with a layer of fluffy coconut icing in the center and covered in rich chocolate buttercream icing, yum! Stop in for a slice!

bike share program kick off party

This Sunday @ 6 p.m. in kickstart’s parking lot we will be celebrating Columbus’ first bike share program. Come and join us for a bike ride highlighting the businesses in the short north sponsoring this program followed by a party in the parking lot. There will be rad dog, free pattycake cupcakes, and much more. We are hoping that a program like this will be developed in the Clintonville area as well. Hope to see you all there.

This weekend is the rad dog + sticky challenge!!! Bring your friends or family from 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m and enjoy an awesome lunch. Are you on the rad dog + sticky wall of fame yet? If you are able to eat a rad dog and follow that up with an amazing sticky bun then one of the p-cake all-stars will take your picture for the wall of fame in the bakery.

Do you love cake and ice cream? We sure do! That is why we are offering an awesome special this weekend, cake al a mode. One slice of our truly amazing cake topped with our new delicious vanilla ice cream for only $5.00! urban farmer’s market this Sat!!!

Come and check out the Urban Farmer’s Market on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the corner of 4th st and 18th ave! There will be lots of locally grown fruits, veggies, eggs, honey, and informational demos. we will have hot out of the oven sticky buns and other delicious goodies! rad dog will even be there too! Come and say hi to me and jennie and support local businesses and farmers.
